Experience the magic of Niseko in December. Whether you're an avid skier or looking for a slower-paced relaxing getaway, there's something for everyone in the first month of winter. Here are some great reasons to visit Niseko this December.
Ski Season is On
The first month of winter means the ski lifts are open! With the opening of the Niseko-Hirafu lifts scheduled for November 23, 2017, you will enjoy access to the mountain and Niseko's famous snow.
Clear, Comfortable Weather
Enjoy milder temperatures and clearer days during the first month of winter. Getting around is a little easier with clearer weather while still being able to experience Niseko's famous snow. It's ideal for families on their first snow holiday.
The height of winter in January and February sees many more blizzards with temperatures dropping much lower. With the clearer days and nights, it's also a great time to take those incredible Instagram-worthy holiday photos including snaps of iconic Mt Yotei and the Niseko-Annupuri ski fields.
It's Less Busy
Get a table at some of the best restaurants in Niseko and enjoy plenty of space on the mountain to practice your turns with December traditionally a less busy period (before Christmas and New Year's). Bee-line for the lifts and get more mountain time with less crowds and queues to your favourite runs.
You can also enjoy more space to yourself in ski learning areas and with less skiers and boarders on the slopes, there's more chance of you enjoying the freshest of fresh tracks.
Night Skiing Starts
Get more time on the mountain with night skiing opening in December. For Winter 2017/18, night skiing is scheduled to start on December 9th, 2017, so you can keep practicing your turns after hours.
It also means you get to fit more into your day with other activities, cooking classes day tours or onsens during the day and at night, ski under the stars until 8:30 pm when the lifts close.
Snow Activities & More
There's not just skiing and snowboarding to love in December but a host of great family-friendly activities that are also available from the first month of winter. From snowshoeing and snowmobiling to indoor climbing walls and incredible culinary experiences, December is wonderful time to lap up the magic of Niseko.
