Hong Kong Airlines (IATA: HX) will begin a five-time weekly service using an Airbus A330-200 between Hong Kong and Sapporo (New Chitose Airport) on 19 December 2014, every day of the week except Mondays and Thursdays. This route was previously exclusive to Cathay Pacific which flies to Sapporo at a fewer frequency of four times a week.
This brings the airline's roster to over 30 destinations (including its home base of Hong Kong International Airport and code share destinations with Hainan Airlines to North America and Europe.) Other Japanese cities the airline flies to are Okinawa and Kagoshima.
In addition, the airline is also offering a special promotion for its business class passengers on this new route, with special consideration to the snowsports activities the Hokkaido region (especially Niseko) is known for. Business class travelers flying from December until 18 January 2015 can avail of a complimentary additional 15 kg checked baggage allowance for ski equipment (one snowboard or one pair of skis, with one pair of ski poles and ski boots).
